The Journal des économistes is back

The Journal des économistes et des études humaines was named after the famous, classical liberal journal of the 19th century. The first Journal des économistes was published between 1841 and 1940. Say, Bastiat, Chevalier, Coquelin or Molinari were frequent contributors. In 2009 and with the 20th anniversary of IES-Europe, it is time to revive the journal.

The Journal des économistes et des études humaines was named after the famous, classical liberal journal of the 19th century. The first Journal des économistes was published between 1841 and 1940. Say, Bastiat, Chevalier, Coquelin or Molinari were frequent contributors.
In 1989, a team of economists associated with the Institute for Economic Studies-Europe and Aix-Marseille University decided that it was time to revive the journal. But in 2005 the publication stopped, which was a great loss to the discipline, as it offered a great venue to publish unorthodox and multi-disciplinary works in economics. In 2009 and thanks to the same editors, it back again.

Building upon the legacy of the French Journal des Economistes - Revue Mensuelle d'Economie Politique (1841-1940), the first journal of economic studies, Journal des Economistes et des Etudes Humaines (JEEH) publishes interdisciplinary articles on political economy and economic studies. An international publication that welcomes contributions from scholars in disciplines as diverse as law, history, political science, sociology, philosophy, psychology, and anthropology, JEEH publishes economic studies that are broader and less specialized than its competitors, reconciling economics with the ethical and policy-oriented principles that make coordinated interaction between human beings possible.

Aims & Scope

The Journal des Economistes et des Etudes Humaines (JEEH) is a quarterly journal of political economy and interdisciplinary economic studies. It addresses economic issues in political theory, social dynamics, social science methodology, and philosophy. Today, JEEH has an international audience, and welcomes contributions written by professional scholars wherever they are in the world.

JEEH's goals are

  1. To bring together economics with neighboring disciplines such as law, history, political science, sociology, philosophy, psychology, and anthropology.
  2. To promote the development of the Austrian approach to economics (Austrian School) and to provide discussion and controversy.
  3. To reconcile economics with the ethical and policy-oriented principles that make coordinated interaction between human beings possible.

The Journal des Economistes et des Etudes Humaines was previously published by the Institut Européen des Etudes Humaines.

Submissions and Review

JEEH publishes both solicited and unsolicited manuscripts. Scholars in the process of completing doctorates are encouraged to submit papers for publication. The editorial staff requests that articles with strong mathematical and econometric formalization be submitted to other suitable publications.

Each paper is reviewed by the editors for general suitability, but the decision of whether to publish is made after the manuscript is examined by two anonymous referees. Authors must mention if the manuscript has been submitted for publication elsewhere, or has been presented at a conference or a colloquium. The views expressed by the authors of the articles are their own and must not be attributed to the Advisory Board, the Editorial Board, or the Editorial Staff.
